Another issue with Viva; the bus schedule isn't timed very well with train departure and arrivals. One bus in the morning gives you only 4 minutes to reach the train before departs, in the afternoon a bus comes roughly 2 minutes after the train arrives. This means you can miss your train leaving in the morning and miss your bus when coming back that evening.
Not related to the article much at all, but GO's big concrete pedestrian tunnels could really use the hand of some local artists. It would be some relatively cheap placemaking that enhances the experience ever-so-slightly too.
This new station upgrade now resembles the Pickering GO station and it is certainly a big improvement over the old station which resembled another very bleak station, the Mimico GO station.
At least now you can hide from the weather and especially the cruel frigid howling winds of Winter and there are more places to sit down:- shoot if you must this old grey head but at least do it while I'm sitting down and not being frostbitten by arctic winds!
Och laddie, when it's Celsius 20 below and the sna is laying heavily on the grund and the wind is cruelly howling about what could be worse than waiting on a suburban GO rail platform?:- I would much rather be at home dining on a proper haggis!
Great write up. Fyi more frequent service up to mount joy is actually in the works. It will just roll out at a later date (expanded service from union to unionville being the first phase).

That’s very bad, but I think in this case as with VIVA in general the answer is probably just way more frequency.

I couldn't agree more, that’s common in other places!
Is there a plan for GO to electrify or have high platforms?
Both electrification and level platforms (not high platforms) are planned

Yes it is much better, especially the weather protection!

From what I know what’s still sort of up in the air?
